SYS Systems, a leading UK supplier of industrial 3D printing technology, has seen a 350% surge in dental market sales, as more clinics and laboratories embrace cutting-edge additive manufacturing to transform patient care.
Based in Derby and part of the Carfulan Group, SYS Systems is the UK platinum partner of Stratasys and currently the leading supplier of Stratasys dental 3D printers in Europe. The company is at the forefront of a digital revolution in dentistry, with growing numbers of practices turning to 3D printing to deliver faster, stronger, and more aesthetic prosthetics.
At the heart of this transformation is the Stratasys J5 DentaJet™, a state-of-the-art printer designed specifically for dental applications. Combined with TrueDent™, a CE-marked, full-colour resin developed by Stratasys, the technology enables laboratories to produce highly accurate removable dentures, crowns, bridges, and temporaries—all in a fraction of the time required by traditional methods.
“Additive manufacturing is revolutionising the way we make things, and the dental market is the latest to switch on to the benefits,” said Matt Fulton, Managing Director of SYS Systems. “Stratasys’ J5 DentaJet™ is the most advanced printer in this space. When paired with TrueDent™, the results are unmatched in terms of durability, aesthetics and speed.”
Transforming clinical practice
Since the start of the year, SYS Systems has been installing a new J5 DentaJet™ every two weeks, reflecting the growing appetite for digital workflows in dental labs across the UK and Ireland.
The system’s key advantage lies in its ability to print multiple tooth and gum shades simultaneously in a single, monolithic structure—eliminating the need for manual assembly, improving strength, and significantly cutting production time. What once took 12 hours by hand can now be completed in just five to six hours with digital tools.
One of the earliest adopters, Prime Dental Laboratory in Ilkeston, has seen a dramatic improvement in efficiency and outcomes. Co-owner and Clinical Dental Technician Tim Jackson was initially trained in fully analogue methods, but has since embraced the digital shift.
“In the past, digital dentures were often brittle—not anymore,” said Jackson. “TrueDent™ is the best resin I’ve ever worked with. We’ve literally thrown it down the corridor and stomped on it—it just won’t break.”
Prime Dental’s collaboration with Nottingham’s Zenith Dental Clinic has demonstrated the technology’s patient impact. Principal Dentist Dr Karan Maini, a former sceptic of digital dentistry, is now fully converted.
“I had many reservations about digital methods, but this technology has changed my mind. Patients are getting their final dentures in days rather than weeks, and chair time is significantly reduced.”
A turnkey digital solution
SYS Systems provides a full turnkey service for dental clients—from printer installation and training to ongoing technical support. This comprehensive approach, combined with proven clinical results, has positioned the company as a trusted partner in the digital transformation of UK dentistry.
Operating from its £2.5m Advanced Innovation Centre in Foston, SYS Systems continues to lead the charge in bringing the benefits of industrial-grade 3D printing to sectors ripe for innovation.
As demand grows, so too does the potential to reshape dental manufacturing from the ground up—delivering faster, stronger, and better-fitting prosthetics that leave both dentists and patients smiling.
