Could pre-apprenticeships overcome gender divide?

Birmingham-based multi-disciplinary engineering solutions company, adi Group is aiming to bridge industry’s gender divide by launching the UK’s first pre-apprenticeship scheme for 14-16 year olds.

By introducing young women to the world of engineering at an early age through pre-apprenticeships, it’s hoped that more of them will choose to enter a career in the industry after they’ve completed their studies. Currently just 9% of the engineers in the UK are women, and more than 60% of 11-21 year-old girls reportedly…
