A Manchester-based manufacturer of luxury, sustainable bedding has been named Family Business of the Year 2025 for Innovation at this year’s celebration hosted by Family Business United.

The award underlines The Fine Bedding Company’s continuous investment in product development and supply, and true commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices that are shaping the future of UK bedding and hospitality.

The awards celebrated not only The Fine Bedding Company’s innovation, but how the company has grown and adapted across four generations, staying ahead of market trends while supplying trusted bedding solutions to top UK retailers and hotels such as John Lewis, M&S, and IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Commenting on the awards, Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of Family Business United, said: “These awards were created to make families in business appreciate the significant impact they have, whether they are large or small, first generation or multigenerational and to recognise the collective importance they have to the economy and communities the length and breadth of the nation.”

Established in 1912, The Fine Bedding Company began by delivering durability for their cruiseliner mattresses. Over the decades, they have built a reputation for innovation in both product and process, most recently with the launch of their Estonian Eco Factory in 2000, and becoming a certified B Corporation in 2022 later highlighting their long-term responsible growth and sustainable operations.

Their product philosophy has always been at the core of their journey. Crafted with the finest luxury materials and responsibly manufactured, their bedding is made to last, wash after wash – which is why it’s loved both at home and on the beds in some of the world’s best hotels.

Sustainability isn’t just a tagline, it’s woven into everything they do. Across their collections, they’ve developed materials such as Smartfil, a high-performance fibre made from recycled plastic bottles, alongside using ethically sourced cotton, biodegradable materials, and plant-based materials wherever they can. All of this takes place in their Eco Factory which runs on 100% renewable energy and recycles 100% of waste.

This ethos comes to life in the Return to Nature range, a first for the UK bedding industry, created using natural and biodegradable fibre filling and designed to gently return to nature at the end of its life. Similarly, the Smartdown range brings the softness and breathability of natural down but with a much lighter environmental footprint, both ranges offering retailers and hotels the sustainable comfort that meets the rising consumer demand for eco-friendly solutions.

With a future built on social consciousness and responsible growth, The Fine Bedding Company continues to lead the way in the bedding industry, setting the standard for comfort, quality and care.
