Food & drink industry to treble apprentices and grow exports

Manufacturers Cox and Plant Products, a manufacturer of conveying systems for major processing plants has plans to increase sales to £3m within 12 months and ambitious targets to more than double that figure by 2018.

President of the Food and Drink Federation, and CEO and Chairman of Nestlé UK and Ireland, Dame Fiona Kendrick, has announced a pledge to treble apprenticeships in the food and drink industry, and grow value-added food and drink exports by a third by 2020.

Unveiled at the Food and Drink Federation’s (FDF) annual President’s Reception, the new pledge will see the total apprenticeship workforce in the sector increase from 1% to 3% against a 2013/14 baseline.
