UK manufacturing booming, but so are prices

Factory output continues to surge, with the CBI Industrial Trends survey registering the best performance for the manufacturing sector in two years, with the positive result fuelled in part by booming car production.

The good news for UK manufacturing was tempered by warnings that the fall in the value of sterling since the Brexit referendum vote last June is beginning to feed through into factory prices. The CBI measures factory performance through its ‘order book balance’, which measured a +8 increase in February compared with +5 in January.…
