Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Growing up with dyslexia was tough, and leaving school with very little on paper was probably the toughest start anyone could get as far as education goes. However, later in life this has proved to be a huge benefit. Dyslexia forces you to come up with solutions that are not necessarily obviously. Due to the way I think and work it’s a huge benefit in engineering when difficult jobs are presented to you to solve. I don’t believe I would be where I am or have had the success without it.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
The struggle will improve your skills. Keep proving people wrong.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Space X inspires me. What this company has achieved blows my mind. The engineering involved in the spacecrafts they produce is incredible.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I’ve jumped out of a plane from 15,000ft as part of a tandem skydive.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
I would love to be a astronaut.
