Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Almost three decades in IT within UK manufacturing, I’ve built my career from the ground up, providing IT support in 1997, qualifying as a network engineer and stepping into leadership in 2005. Moving from the coatings industry to the faster, more challenging pace of the automotive industry in 2014 gave me a further development opportunity to develop as a leader.

What fires me up? Delivering innovative solutions, empowering people and seeing technology transform the way we work. I’ve led large-scale integrations, shaped IT roadmaps for growth and always kept service excellence at the core. UK manufacturing inspires me with its resilience, pace and potential, especially in these challenging times being part of that evolution, particularly with Evtec Automotive’s leadership team continues to motivate me every day.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell myself to always take any opportunity to learn, and not to worry as you get older as wisdom comes along quite naturally.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
It would have to be the car. Bringing together precision, innovation and design. Countless components working seamlessly to deliver performance and style allowing you to travel and see the world.

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I used to be a musician and once supported the Bay City Rollers on a college tour of the UK.

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
It would have to be running a bakery/coffee shop somewhere in the countryside.
