Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
I fell into the FMCG industry after completing a physics and electronics degree and realised I enjoyed selling more than quantum theory. Years later the opportunity came up to get into supply chain and the logical nature appealed to my background. I am inspired to strive towards a world class supply chain and I love the combination of both people and machines making this possible. Having spent over a third of my career in, or running, supply chains I can confidently say this is the best function in an organisation. Manufacturing drinks is an art and a science.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Be confident that you can deliver, so back yourself to take more career ‘risks’.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
I love all our soft drinks and beers… especially Hobgoblin and Pepsi. I also love racecars and AIM data loggers are great.

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
As a toddler I wanted to be an actor but it ended as the lead in Pirates of Penzance at the age of nine when we all realised that I couldn’t sing and therefore did the first ever rap in a Gilbert and Sullivan performance.

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
Race car driver… either F1 or British Touring Cars,
