Job Title: CEO
Company: Uplifts
Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
I am part of the sixth generation of the Stannah family to lead the business, alongside other members of the fifth generation. I am passionate about British manufacturing and I am fighting hard daily to continue to build Stannah into a staple of British manufacturing for another generations. I also founded and am current acting CEO of Uplifts – a start-up we created within Stannah to drive forward a new product category in homelifts that has become the second highest manufactured product we’ve launched in Stannah’s history – behind stairlifts.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Ideas are incredibly simple. Execution is what matters. Learn how to execute as early as possible.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Your first is always special… The Uplifts Homelift. I founded Uplifts at 29 years old and saw it through past design, product development and engineering, and into existence. I’m proud to have added a product to Stannah’s history.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
Until embarrassingly recently, I didn’t actually know what SOP stood for.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
I’m fascinated by CX, and think the toughest industry to create an excellent CX is hospitality. I’d love to try the challenge of running a hotel.
