Dundee-based wind energy specialist Coast Renewable Services (CRS) is set to double its workforce over the next 18 months as it accelerates growth into new global markets, supported by a funding commitment from Michelin Development.
The family-run business, headquartered in the West Pitkerro Estate, has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner in the UK and European wind sectors. Now, with plans to expand into Germany, Ireland, the Far East and Australia, CRS is scaling up operations to meet increasing demand for its turnkey wind turbine services – from site setup to installation and maintenance.
Founded in 2013 by Managing Director Mark Robson, CRS has grown organically over the past 12 years, earning praise for its consistent service delivery and high safety standards. Robson, inspired by early exposure to Danish wind farm technology, has steered the business to become a recognised name in the onshore renewables sector.
“The support of Michelin Development has given us the funding to create new roles, which are vital to allow our business to enter new and expanding markets in the offshore industry and offers further opportunities for us to grow in the future,” said Robson. “The process to apply for funding was straightforward, and the advice and support Michelin Development offered was invaluable.”
The funding will enable CRS to recruit for a wide range of roles – from wind technicians to senior management – as it strengthens its workforce to support expansion both at home and overseas.
CRS has already made significant investments in training and skills development, launching its own Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Training Academy at the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc. The centre delivers GWO-accredited courses for wind personnel, further embedding the company’s commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Brian Cairns, representing Michelin Development in Dundee, said: “CRS has provided more than 12 years of reliable service, growing largely through word of mouth, and has an outstanding reputation within the wind industry. Their values align with Michelin’s ‘People, Profit and Planet’ principles, and we’re proud to support their continued growth.”
As the renewable energy sector continues to grow in importance globally, CRS’s expansion marks a significant boost for green jobs in the region and underlines Dundee’s emerging role in the clean energy economy.
