Nestlé has reported a 6.1 per cent rise in net profit for the first half of 2008, taking the total to 5.2 billion Swiss francs (£2.5 billion, 3.2 billion euros).
The company said the results demonstrated “that Nestlé is resilient and able to create opportunities for profitable growth even in challenging economic times.”
