Opel/Vauxhall, the European division of US car firm General Motors, is considering building the new Astra model in Ellesmere Port after previously indicating that it would close the plant.
The Ellesmere Port car factory builds current models of the Astra, placing it in prime position to take on the build of the new vehicle, which would provide a major boost to its production volumes sold into a declining European automotive market. Opel/Vauxhall plans to end production of the Astra at the Rüsselsheim site in Germany…
