Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
My father was an aeronautical engineer, and I grew up immersed in the world of Tornado aircraft and the hum of busy hangars. This environment sparked a deep curiosity about how things work and laid the foundation for my lifelong fascination with systems and engineering. Problem-solving and innovation have always driven me, making a career in manufacturing a natural path.
Joining Progressive Technology marked a pivotal moment in my career, where I’ve had the opportunity to lead meaningful change, supported by a talented, collaborative team. In my current role, I blend my passion for technology with hands-on problem-solving, tackling new challenges head-on and delivering systematic solutions that continue to propel this business forward and ultimately help create value for our customers.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t be afraid to speak up if you have an idea, and always believe in yourself. There were times early in my career when I held back, doubting the value of my ideas or fearing they weren’t good enough.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
I spent countless hours during my childhood with my dad building with Meccano in my grandma’s shed – seeing how simple parts could combine to make something much greater.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
Thanks to our ERP software partner Epicor, I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to have breakfast in Prague with Yuki Tsunoda, the Formula 1 driver. I also gave him one of our 3D printed titanium bottle openers.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
If I weren’t in manufacturing, my dream job would likely be in stock trading. I’ve always been fascinated by how markets work, the dynamics of global economies and the strategies behind successful investing. The fast-paced, analytical nature of stock trading and the strategic decision-making involved really appeals to me.
