Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
My role involves driving various initiatives to enhance our environmental impact, such as reducing utility usage, increasing on-site biodiversity and creating smart KPIs to track progress. My career highlights include organising successful sustainability workshops and initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable culture. I believe culture is a crucial part of company success, especially in sustainability.
What inspires me is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in our company’s sustainability practices and contribute to a greener future. I was drawn to manufacturing because of its dynamic nature and the continuous opportunities for innovation. UK manufacturing excites me because of its potential for sustainable growth and perpetual progress.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Trust your gut and be bold.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Shampoo bars. Very simple and goes back to basics, but so convenient and cuts down so much plastic waste.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I love anything to do with art. Painting, crocheting, interior design – just like engineering, I love making stuff, even if I’m not the best, I find it very relaxing.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
Owning my own pottery studio.
