Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Engineering/manufacturing is a very male dominant industry, and I want to use this platform (The Manufacturer – Top100) to encourage more women into the sector. After completing my FdSc Engineering I worked full-time at a pub for three years.

Although there were other reasons, this was somewhat down to the lack of confidence I had going into a predominately male-based industry. Having been employed by DP Engineering for seven years, applying for jobs within the engineering sector is the best thing I have ever done. Engineering/manufacturing is an ever-changing field and that’s what makes it so exciting – there is always so much to learn.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Everything will initially be very daunting. However, you’ll soon realise that there is so much support around you.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Everything! Seeing all components going from P/O to manufacture is pretty cool. This can range from oil and gas to aerospace to commercial. Flight critical parts are the coolest though!

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I had a dream about becoming a production engineer – that’s what made me apply for my current job role!

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
N/A – I’m living the dream that is engineering/manufacturing!
