Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
I am a passionate innovator with over 17 years of experience in designing advanced analytical instruments that address global environmental challenges. As CEO and Co-founder of Hexsor Scientific, I’ve led award-winning innovations, including being honoured as CleanTech CEO of the Year 2025. From being shortlisted in Innovate UK’s global mission to establishing our Canadian office in Halifax, we now lead a UK–Canada collaboration developing real-time sensing systems for marine water quality.
With three patents, 20+ scientific publications and a background as a scientist and technology specialist, I thrive at the intersection of research and manufacturing. What drives me is the power of UK manufacturing to create purpose-driven, globally scalable solutions. I believe in pushing boundaries – to engineer technologies that protect ecosystems, empower communities and redefine what’s possible.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Trust your instincts, even when the path isn’t clearly laid out. Stay curious – every challenge you face is a lesson in resilience and creativity. Don’t be afraid to take risks – the biggest breakthroughs often come from stepping outside your comfort zone. Value collaboration early on – it’s the key to scaling impact globally. And remember, purpose matters. Let your work be driven not just by innovation, but by its power to make a real difference in the world. You’ll be surprised how far passion, perseverance and people can take you.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
It has to be the technologies we’ve developed at Hexsor Scientific – because they’re more than just instruments. These are dual-use systems, designed for both civilian and strategic applications, capable of delivering real-time insights into environmental
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
I see teaching as one of the most meaningful ways to give back – by shaping young minds, inspiring curiosity and instilling the values of innovation and critical thinking. As an educator, I’d have the opportunity to empower the next generation of problem-solvers, encouraging them to explore, create and challenge the status quo. Just like in manufacturing, it’s about building something lasting – only this time, it’s futures. I believe education is the foundation of a thriving economy, and I’d be honoured to play a role in nurturing that growth.
