Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
My role is two-fold – firstly to attract and support commercial manufacturers to outsource production into our prison industry workshops. Secondly, it is to encourage organisations to employ prison leavers and help fill vacancies with people with skills, qualifications and work experience, create social impact and give people a second chance.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
A career is defined over 30 or 40 years, set an ambition to find a role that gives enjoyment, fulfilment and surround yourself with colleagues of a similar mind.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
We recently helped develop a medical gown with a midwife who identified a need for a garment that was both practical and gives dignity to the patient, and then produced it in a prison textile workshop with females prisoners.

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I’m an apprentice served bookbinder!

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
Sports journalist.
