Job Title: Operations Manager
Company: Aurrigo Interational
Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Prior to joining the advanced engineering team in 2018, I held a selection of different roles in the hospitality industry, gaining a skill set in people management, safety, compliance, training and public engagement. Since 2018 I have become a leader in the safe operation of autonomous vehicles and have gained complimentary technical skills.
I have managed deployments of Aurrigo autonomous vehicles in Milton Keynes, Brighton, Heathrow Airport, Cambridge, Alnwick, Manchester, Birmingham NEC as well as hundreds of on-site demos. More recently I have been heading up our Airside Operations at Stuttgart, Schiphol, Gatwick and soon adding East Midlands Airport using Aurrigo’s brand new AUTO-CARGO.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Learn all you can. Learn it even if you think it’s not relevant to what your doing today, as tommorow it could be.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
This is the hardest question by far. As I’m a big kid at heart, I’m going to have to say LEGO. With so many of different designs there is something for everyone. As a Dad of four boys I still get to build regularly.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I used to work for the premium chain, Gastro. I was District Drinks Champion and headed up quarterly cocktail training for 30-60 people.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
I love working with timber. The smell and feel of working with it.
