Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
I’ve been working in the pharmaceutical industry for close to three years. Throughout this time I’ve worked across a range of functions, spanning shop floor process improvement to large scale CAPEX projects. The wide scope associated with the job keeps it interesting. I’ve particularly enjoyed working with AVI (Automated Visual Inspection) and developing IIOT across site.
I look forward to seeing how the industry will adapt to growth in GenAI models capable of visual inspection. With the development of Industry 4.0, I believe it is a fantastic time to pursue a career in manufacturing. The push for a more technology driven, data centric approach to process development and improvement is giving young professionals a head start entering the industry.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Sometimes progress is better than perfection; it’s an important skill knowing when to focus on the small details.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Jaffa cakes.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I like whitewater kayaking.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
Playing on the PGA tour.
