Job Title: Engineering and Asset Manager
Company: BASF
Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
My journey in manufacturing began with summer placements at Thermo Fisher Scientific while at university. There I gained hands-on experience in validation, quality and engineering. After graduating with a Master’s in mechanical engineering (distinction), I joined Thermo Fisher full-time and progressed rapidly to Engineering Lead, managing a high-performing team.
Today, I’m the Asset Manager at BASF Littlehampton and I am the most senior engineer on-site, overseeing maintenance, projects and process engineering. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, I’m proud to drive long-term engineering improvements across the site. What inspires me is transforming legacy systems and enabling teams to thrive and creating lasting impact. UK manufacturing is full of potential, and I’m passionate about pushing that forward. Being recognised as an Unsung Hero is a proud moment.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
You don’t need all the answers, just the confidence to ask the right questions, learn and grow into your role.
What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Aseptic filling machines stand out for me. During my time at Thermo Fisher Scientific, I worked closely with these systems, supporting their operation, troubleshooting and process improvements. They’re a great example of engineering precision.
Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
Growing up across four different countries exposed me to a wide range of cultures, perspectives and ways of working. That experience has shaped how I approach challenges, collaborate with others and lead teams – bringing a broader, more adaptable mindset.
If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
My dream job would be CEO – using my operations background to drive performance, culture and long-term sustainable growth across the business.
