Job Title: Engine Plant Manager

Company: Ford

Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Manufacturing contributes to society in a way many don’t realise and that is what is so appealing for me as an engineer, I can create a solution to real-world problems before they are even identified. It gives me such pride to work on Ford vehicles that I pass on the road every day; customers who have invested in us inspire me to lead my team to do the best they can. I am most proud of the fact I have brought others along with me on the journey in manufacturing and who have progressed in their professional and personal development because of opportunities I created for them.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Be yourself and let your personality shine through.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
Dyson cordless vacuum – it looks great, it stores away and it has freed up all excuses for not cleaning up instantly.

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I lived and worked in Japan for a year.

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
Librarian.
